You’ve just landed your dream role, fantastic!

Transitions can be exciting, and for many leaders, transitioning into something new – whether it’s a promotion, new career, or industry change – can also open up a range of feelings from self-doubt to overconfidence.

If you’re a senior leader with a sterling track record of impactful key results in many organizations and about to start a role at a new firm, imposter syndrome can still kick in:

  • Am I good enough?
  • Was I hired for other factors outside of my accomplishments and track record?
  • What if I fail to deliver and become perceived as a fraud?

And while you were hired for your past accomplishments, success in a new role often entails a mindset shift that comes with acknowledging your vulnerabilities (I don’t know what I don’t know) and embracing what’s new with a learner’s mindset:

  • How do I ramp my knowledge in a new environment?
  • What key relationships are most important to build in the first 90 days?
  • How will I get the support I need to stay balanced emotionally and mentally?

Leaders can be taken by surprise and find themselves walking into unexpected roadblocks that undermine their credibility, erode trust, and get in the way of their effectiveness in the first 90 days.
